Mona Lisa 3D Studio – Chocolate for the digital age
How we supported the creation and launch of Mona Lisa 3D Studio
In May 2018, Barry Callebaut’s global decorations brand reached out to us to discuss a then super confidential project: 3D printing in real, delicious chocolate.
We partnered with Andreu Carulla’s awarded industrial design studio ACID Studio to develop a highly unique, unseen design language in chocolate. That would push the boundaries of 3D printing in chocolate: a daunting task – yet, we created a breakthrough in the look and feel, and aesthetics of chocolate.
After nearly 2 years, the print results started to take shape. Time to expose this innovation to the world. We developed the brand ID of Mona Lisa 3D Studio and created the launch campaign: an emotional documentary starring Jordi Roca (the world’s best pastry chef – El Celler de Can Roca) in his quest for a new, iconic dessert in which 3D printed chocolate plays a lead role.
We also scripted, designed and did the art direction of the entire launch experience in Mas Marroch (Girona – Spain) for a handpicked selection of lifestyle and design journalists. For the launch too, we partnered with ACID Studio, New Balls Please (for logistic and technical support).
The launch of Mona Lisa 3D Studio made the headlines in titles, newspapers and news sites all over the world. Very soon, it will take the first orders from customers around the globe. When will you have your first 3D printed chocolate dessert?
